Mental health is an important issue that affects many people, and it's great that 988 is available as a resource to help streamline mental health and crisis calls.
I've recently been helping a struggling family member find resources, and once again, I've been struck by how difficult it is to access the help that is out there. While there is a consistent effort to streamline resources, in reality, it can be very tough. There are so many agencies and organizations, and it's often hard to know where to start. I've spent hours on the phone and the internet, trying to track down the right resources for my family member. And even when I find something, it's often not as helpful as I'd hoped.
Here at Kid in the Corner, we know how important it is for our community to access resources. That's why one of the pillars of our mission is to connect people to the help they need, when they need it.
This month’s launch of 988 is a step in the right direction towards shattering stigma. The new 988 suicide prevention hotline is a life-saving measure to help those struggling with mental health problems. The three-digit number is easy to remember and will connect callers with trained counselors who can provide support and resources. The 988 hotline is part of a larger effort to reduce the stigma around mental health problems and give the people the help they need. In addition to the hotline, 988 will also provide online resources and support groups. This comprehensive approach will make it easier for people to get the help they need and save lives. The 988 suicide prevention hotline is a vital service that will make a difference in the lives of countless people.
In addition to promoting the new National 988 crisis line, we are excited to announce the launch of our new video resources! These videos are designed to familiarize the community with available resources, what they offer and how to best contact them. These videos will help people understand what services are available and how to access them. We hope these videos will provide a valuable resource for people in need and help reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for someone in crisis to find and connect with the resources they need to get help. We will continue to work hard to make this happen, and we hope you will join us in our efforts. If you or someone you know is struggling, please don't hesitate to reach out for help.
